How to spa at-home |
Everyone deserves a little me time. The times we live in, the everyday stress we put our bodies through, we deserve it even more. Whatever your situation, maybe you work full-time and some, or home with kids all day, it's remembering to take a little break once in a while and give yourself a pamper session to end all pamper sessions! Clear your calendars, it's time for some mid-week me time!
Bathtime
I love a good bath and I certainly overuse that facility... I start my ritual by lighting a candle or two (my current faves: Yankee Candle Cherry Blossom and The White Company Orange Grove) which are both very summery, sweet and fruity scents. I love to start with adding only hot water first as it creates a nice steam in the whole bathroom (very SPA-like!). No pamper session is complete without a Lush bath bomb. My tastes change all the time but I usually go for sweet scents and Think Pink features Tonka, Neroli Oil and Vanilla Absolute for all round candy scented delight. This fuchsia coloured bath bomb will turn your bath into pinky heaven with silver glitter running through. It's gorgeous. It's one of my favourites for sure (I recently walked out of the store with 3 backups! Lol!). It's important to mention that the bath bomb isn't SLS free if that bothers you. I found my skin to be silky soft after the bath experience, the sweet scent lasted for the entire (45minutes plus) bath session and lingered ever so slightly afterwards. There's no bath without an addition of little oil and I've been loving NUXE Huile Prodixieuse Dry Oil lately. The scent is faint so it doesn't disturb the scent of my bath bomb but it provides an additional hydration to my skin. Long baths aren't that great on the skin and can be quite drying. However, I find that adding just a little oil (I literally add two teaspoons) makes my skin softer and better protected. I find the scent to be very satisfying with notes of Orange Blossom, Magnolia and Vanilla really complementing Lush Think Pink. Huile Prodigieuse is a dry oil combination of anti-ageing Tsubaki and Borage Oils (I've written about Borage Oil before if you'd like to check it out HERE), softening Sweet Almond Oil, moisturising Camellia Oil, soothing Hazelnut Oil, Repairing Argan Oil and nourishing Macadamia Oil.what a brilliant combination. It's probably nest used just after the bath, massaging onto the still damp skin, but I've been enjoying using it as bath oil instead.
Exfoliate
Giving your body and face a good scrub is super important. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells and helps the skin regeneration process. Body scrubs are a little obsession of mine and I use scrub 3-4 time a week. I find that my body skin looks and feels its best when I exfoliate regularly. Lately, I'm all about the coffee scrubs and I have been recently gifted this Nacomi Coconut Coffee Scrub* which smells like coffee I would enjoy. Has anyone come up with coconut coffee yet? Let me know! Coconut Coffee Scrub is handmade, 100% made of natural vegan ingredients, free from SLS, SLES and parabens. This dry scrub is made from Robusta Coffee, Sea Salt, Coconut Oil and Cocoa Butter which gives it the most incredible coconut coffee scent! The whole experience is a little messy but very enjoyable. I take the dry scrub and scrub my whole body after the bath (whilst still in the bathtub) concentrating on cellulite prone areas. The scrub not only exfoliates but also moisturises and firms. I also adore the new Nacomi's packaging!
For my face, I've recently received the super cute samples of Skin Yoga's Pure Almond and Orange Face Scrub*. It's only a sample and will only last for few applications but it's such a treat. This is again a dry scrub and it should be used by combining a little of the dry product with water to create a paste-like consistency and massaging your face and neck in circular motion. The product is 100% natural and free from any fragrance and parabens. It's made of Almond Meal, Dried Orange Peel, Chickpea Flour and Organic Turmeric. The formula is not only exfoliating but hydrating, it helps with pigmentation, can be used to fight dark circles and as a preventive anti-wrinkle mask. It doesn't have any distinctive scent and it's actually super gentle. I love it as a pre-mask step in my routine.
Facial
There's no better time than a pamper session to mask. I absolutely adore Tołpa masks and wrote about them previously HERE. Currently, I'm living for Futuris 30+ Express Vitamin Revitalising Mask*. I apply it all over my face and neck and allow to sink in for 10-30 minutes. I find that 20-30 minutes is optimal for this mask and the results are almost instant. My skin looks refreshed. The formula brightens and revitalises my complexion making it appear dewier. I love the subtle glow it gives me whilst being super gentle. Another natural formula free from PEGs, Silicones, artificial colourings and paraffin oil. The formula is a mixture of soy & rice protein, Spanish lavender oil, Fucogel, glycerine. It's super hydrating and restores skin natural radiance. Great for anyone who suffers from dullness.
Ok, the next product is something I actually know little to nothing about. I don't really know what's in it and how it works but it's kinda magical. If you're a stressed bunny, like yours truly, you know how hard it is to just switch off sometimes. Enter SpaceMasks*. I was reluctant at first, but having used it, I know I'm in dear need to keep a large stock of it at home. It's essentially a sleep mask that warms up. It's great for moments when you just want stop the time and relax. Put on for 15 mins, close your eyes and relax. Be careful, I nearly fell asleep in it a couple of minutes in. Again, no idea how it exactly works but it's brilliant!
Moisturise
I have to admit, I rarely use body moisturisers. I have spoken about it before and the main reason is, I'm too lazy to stand around for 10 minutes allowing it to sink in. When I was sent Dr Bronnan Peppermint Magic Lotion*, I was worried I'll have that issue and I'll have to use it all up for my hands (I hate wasting products!). I'm pleased to be convinced otherwise! This formula is so light, it sinks instantly and I mean it. I've never seen anything like it. The addition of peppermint is great in warmer months too, as it's super fresh. Would I rather go for a sweeter scent, sure, but I don't mind it and that's a lot given its organic formula. I'm surprised at how much I like it and I treat myself to it at least twice a week, which is super rare for me! Few pumps are all its needed to cover my whole body and I keep it at my vanity, as I constantly re-apply it to my hands. I'm a bit of an addict like that! I have to see what other scents Dr Bronner has to offer as the pump is brilliant and will be great to leave at work too! You can shop Dr Bronner at Naturally Better You now, if you fancy a soap (brilliant to wash your Beauty Blender with!) or any other skincare.
What is your top SPA at home products? Hands up if you're a fellow bath addict too! Happy Hump Day everyone ❤️

I used to be a bath lover, but now, thinking back, I haven't had one since last year. I always fear one of the kids will start crying the second I get in...

ReplyDeleteI love using body scrub and use one once every fortnight. I don't like taking bath though, much prefer showers so I don't really get the whole relaxing in the tub thingy. LOL!
