FESTIVAL SURVIVAL QUIDE

Festival beauty survival kit

With many festivals approaching (Tomorrowland, V Festival, Sunrise Festival and much more) I compiled a simple guide to help you survive the heat, less than premium bathroom situations, messy hair and makeup to end all festival makeups with glitter and UV friendly picks. If you still don't know what to pack, check out what's in my makeup bag for the festival weekend!

Stay cleanish

Whilst I oppose to anything less than glamping and prefer a nice hotel room with private bathroom to a tent with communal bathroom space (Slight anxiety just typing this! Lol), I know a lot of you will probably opt for the latter. Don't get me wrong, I've been there! Still, in my twenties, I loved less than optimal festival situations, but since I'm 30+ I rather spend a little extra to get my precious cargo (ME!) comfortable! Staying cleanish during the festival can be dreadful fun. I'd bring a lot of samples/sachets of body washes and use them to refresh on a daily. Mitchum Anti-Perspirant Deodorant will keep you dry and protected from sweat all day and night long. It's the only deodorant I use and I don't plan to change that anytime soon! Wipes are also an option so grab a pack before you go! Dry shampoo is a must but what if you could combine both shampoo and conditioner? Batiste 2-in-1 Invisible Dry Shampoo & Conditioner smells incredible (Cocoa!!!), refreshes my hair well and also keeps my locks conditioned for up to 18 hours. It's a great styling tool too and if you're into curls/waves it'll work as a great styling agent! Can't praise this enough!

Protect your bits

Ok, so the subtitle here may be just a bit misleading lol! Sun protection is super important and I always recommend broad spectrum SPF30 or SPF50 depending on your personal preferences! Mists come in handy if you're want to top up the SPF throughout the day. Pixi Sun Mist offers a broad spectrum SPF30 in a super fine mist. Great before and over makeup and can be used on the body too (tried & tested!). A day out in the sun isn't too great on your hair either. I find that a conditioning hair mist can really make a difference. I'll be using No7 Hair Protecting Spritz this summer (taking it on holiday too!). It reduces the colour fade and protects from salt and chlorine damage. The unique vitamin and antioxidant complex strengthens, adds shine and protect hair from the sun and environmental damage! Don't forget to top up every 1-2 hours!

#FestivalMistHave

I'm all about body mists in the summer. Perfumes can be a little too heavy when you're out in the sun all day and mists are a fun way to keep you smelling delicious without the heaviness of eau de perfume! So...? Body Mists* areavailable in 10+ different scents and cost less than £4.00 each!!! Ranging from deliciously fruity to girly floral, there's a scent waiting for you to be discovered! I must admit, I have a thing for So...? Floriental Body Mist*! The fresh & fruity notes of pear, apple and mandarin hit you first, before translating into gorgeous freesia and violet. The perfect combination of fruity & floral if you ask me! The scent stays on for up to 4 hours too! Great to refresh your hair with and add a little fragrance to your holiday/festival do! I really want to try Watermelon one too! They're currently on offer in Superdrug and can also be found in Boots!

Ouai Wave Spray

Wave me the way

The easiest look to pull off during a festival is messy waves. I usually go for curls the first day which transfers into waves the next. I always have my Tangle Angel with me, especially given the Cherub version is a perfect size for a weekend away. I don't think it's better or worse than a Tangle Teezer. I find both works similarly on my hair but just look how pretty it is! Magpie in me just can't even! I use Ouai Wave Spray to add a little texture and definition to my locks. The 50ml version is perfect for travel and I like the brand aesthetics. The spray is virtually weightless and I find that it works beautifully adding texture to my messy festival waves!

90s child

I was a total 90s kid (even a teenager at the end of it!) and remember the UV nail/makeup trend well. I love to experiment with colours, so the new 3ina UV makeup line*peaked my interest. I'll be adding a coat of 3ina Fluoro Top Coat* to my favourite mani. It's such a simple way to transform your nails! In terms of makeup, I'll be going for simple messy smokey eye with a splash of fluorescent colour. Starting with 3ina Fluoro Pencil*, I go to the roots of the lashes both upper and lower lashline, smudging if with a q-tip or a brush to create a little cat eye. Using my finger I apply the bright matte orange 3ina The Fluoro Cream Eyeshadow in 401*. I smudge it above the crease with a brush quickly as it sets in seconds and once it sets, it won't budge! I take a little of the same colour and smudge it below the lower lashline to create a messy smokey finish. I finish up with few coats of mascara & add Eye Candy Naturalise lashes* to complete this messy festival eye look!

Glitterazzi

No look can be completed without a little glitter and a statement lip to end all statement lips! Purple and orange clash here so beautifully, don't you think? I go for a full pout of Jeffree Star Velour Lipstick in You Better Work which is a stunning pigmented purple. It stands out on its own, but no festival lip art can be completed without a little glitter. Using NYX Glitter Glue I add Festival Face Chunky Glitter in Pink Champagne on the mid lip. How cool is this?

I hope you enjoyed this mini tutorial/festival survival guide. Whatever you're wearing, makeup or no makeup, please just enjoy yourself. Dance like you've never danced before, laugh, drink (responsibly of course), take 100s selfies, love your friends and forget for a moment there's a different life waiting for you at home. Be a kid this weekend without a care in a world. That's what a festival weekend should be all about!

Do you plan on attending any festivals this year? I was invited to attend a couple of festivals with brands (I know!!!), but sadly I'm abroad both dates. Unlucky! What is your best festival survival trick? Share it with me & others in the comments below!

  10. I love Mitchum deodorant, it doesn't leave hat dreaded white stain, plus it smells good too, and should you want it unscented they do that too which is fab x
