Morning skincare routine |
Happy December everyone. I’m officially in a Christmas mode now. Winter is truly on its way with temperatures dropping to barely 1 degrees as of late. Cold, central heating and other environmental factors have a huge impact on our skin. It’s important to change up your routine to ensure skin’s protected, well nourished and hydrated. I introduced some new products to my morning routine to ensure I look fresh and awake to cheat my body a little. Lack of sunshine, dark mornings and short days usually make me more anxious and stress shows quickly doesn’t it?
Rule no 1: look fresh & awake
I have been blessed with a little delivery from Christian Breton. The new Eye Contour Elixir* (RPR £49 for 15ml) is a lightweight serum combining the power of Matrixyl & Hyaluronic Acid to fight signs of ageing such as lack of elasticity, crows feet and under eye fine lines. I keep the product in the fridge to ensure the formula to stay fresh for longer with active ingredients working their best. It also provides me with well-needed coolness, which helps diminish swelling. Applied as a first step in skincare, it sinks in instantly after pressing it gently around the eyes. Ice Stick Eye Contour* (RPR £42 for 3g) is a fave of mine too. Its unique formula combines BSC Multifruit complex & Rose Musk extract to help ease puffiness as well as moisturise, minimise expression lines and diminish fatigue. Ginko Biloba and Marine Elastin allow the delicate skin to replenish, protect it from external factors while light captors visibly illuminate. Both create a hydrated, luminous & youthful appearance. Christian Breton is currently on sale on Look Fantastic. Save 20% with a code SKINCARE20, not sure how long the promo lasts, so don’t miss out!
Rule no 2: protect from free radicals
Living in a large city is hard on the skin. I try and introduce high quality concentrated antioxidants to help me fight future changes and protect the skin from environmental challenges such as sun damage and air pollution. Concentrating on the latter, I bought a couple of the new Deciem antioxidants to help protect my skin from future damage. The Ordinary EUK 134 0.1% (RPR £6.90-£6.95 for 30ml) stars an incredibly high potent and rare self-regenerating antioxidant and offers a 'round the clock' protection from free radicals. High concentration of EUK 134 is unmatched on the beauty market and offers a water, silicone, oils and alcohol-free formula. I tend to mix three drops with my morning serum and apply by pressing lightly. Self-regenerating properties mean the antioxidant neutralises free radicals for up-to 20hrs allowing uninterrupted and uninhabited production of elastin and collagen. Whilst there are no immediate results, it doesn’t clog my pores or reacts to my sensitive skin. I choose to believe, the care I take with my skin now will truly pay off when I’m older. Science in skincare is important and it’s been such a learning curve for me. The second antioxidant I introduced in my skincare is The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% (RPR £5.50 for 30ml). Again unique high concentrations of two very potent, naturally derived antioxidants allow maximizing the skin’s protection and age-defying benefits. Both found naturally, they play a key role in self-preservation of plants from which they are derived. As with EUK 134, the key benefit is their ability to neutralize free radicals and allow the skin’s natural processes of collagen and elastin production. It’s important to note that whilst EUK 134 formula doesn’t allow for it to be mixed with Vit C suspensions, Resveratrol and Ferulic Acid almost welcomes it. Together, it forms the best free radical protection and allows the skin to protects itself naturally.
Rule no 3: extra 5 minutes in bed
I don’t know about you but I love my bed. Sleep is important to me and I love a little lay in even on weekdays. All in one skincare rarely works but This Works In Transit Camera Close-Up is a true skincare gem. The creamy formula takes a minute to sink in but provides my skin with the 3-in-1 action of moisturiser, mask and primer. Believe me, when I say this, Instagram worthy skin is at your fingertips. Featuring a unique blend of antioxidant plant oils, Hyaluronic Acid, argan and starflower oils with a touch of caffeine, it brightens instantly. Great moisturiser on the go, it’s my go-to on busy days. It protects the skin from the environment, nourishes deeply, diminishes fatigue and dullness, actively fights uneven skin tone and texture as well reducing redness. It’s a true multi-tasker. It’s with me when I stay somewhere overnight, or during flights. It’s a camera ready skin saviour!
