Travel skincare must haves |
Travelling is what makes life simply better. Sometimes something as little as an overnight stay in a new place can bring a new perspective. I love short city breaks and my favourite place to visit is hands down London. There's something so magical about it, with all the incredible architecture, great food, shopping and busy nightlife. Packing light is something I've only mastered recently and I've become pretty damn good at sorting through the NEED category. Good skin care is a must for me, especially in a new place as even a short travel has a very detrimental effect on my skin. So if you're planning a city break or you're off for work do somewhere and you're not too sure what to pack, here's my absolute minimum skincare regime set, that's too good not to try!
Cleansing because duh!
It's not really a mystery that double cleansing is a must for me every day. Be that at home or when I travel, I need to have a couple of cleansers with me. Enter travel sizes!
For a while now my first cleanse is taken care of by a cleansing oil. Lately, I've been loving a combination of virgin olive and rosemary leaf oils found in DHC Deep Cleansing Oil*. Simple in the formula the antioxidant-rich olive oil not only takes care of even the waterproof makeup but also conditions skin while you cleanse. It doesn't have a particular scent other than your usual olive oil and it seems to be working on my more sensitive days too. Bonus!
I've only recently grabbed a sample of Emma Hardie's Moringa Cleanser and I can't believe how good it really is! The formulation is so rich yet it melts beautifully in contact with heat. The scent is simply me, the citrus notes wash away my troubles. Citrusy scents are great for anxious people as they are proven to help release the happy endorphins so it's a win-win for me. I really need to get a full size of this once I'm done with 'oh so many' cleansers currently in rotation! And if you're in a dear need of hydration - this will double as a relaxing mask if you need it. Apply it on a cleansed skin just before bath and allow the heat and steam to open pores and allow the luxurious combination of sea fennel, vitamin E and intoxicating cocktail of orange, neroli, mandarin, jasmine and rose essential oils to condition and deeply hydrate your skin.

Skipping serum
Not an easy step for me as I'm a little of self-diagnosed serum junkie. I find that skipping serum is only ever possible when I switch my routine to rich and effective moisturisers.
For daytime, I can never say no to Créme De La Mer*. Yes, it's pricey but if you can get a sample of this you'd never look back! It's that one moisturiser that does it all. It's so rich yet it preps the skin beautifully for makeup. You can truly skip serum and toner and mist and even a primer even if you're super dry. It gives the most healthy looking skin finish, I've ever experienced. No nonsense really, just a radiant clean skin we all strive to.
For evening, I've been loving the little gem that is the Too Cool For School Egg Mellow Cream. It combines the powers of a moisturiser, eye cream, serum, primer and even a sleep mask it truly does it all. If you like rich creamy formulas that melt into a skin almost instantly leaving it ultra hydrated - this is the one for you. It smells great and I fell in love with it while on holiday in Spain. This was a moisturiser I used at night to deeply nourished my skin after a day in the sun.
What constitutes a great eye cream in my opinion? The buttery soft formula! I love my eye cream to have the substance to allow it to deeply hydrate the always dry yet delicate area. The Sk:n Age Brightening & Firming Eye Cream* comes from the specialists behind Sk:n clinics around the country. From my limited use of just over a week, the formula is creamy yet soft, rich and still light that makes it a perfect morning and evening choice. It sinks in easily but it feels so deeply moisturising my eyes have been loving it so far. It's still early days but I'm taking it with me for my weekend away in London, that's for sure!

The mist to end them all
Ah, the power of a good facial mist. It can truly work miracles. From setting your skincare steps, adding extra hydration, through to refresh you and your makeup throughout the day. Finding a truly great one takes a while so why not skip all of the ones that just aren't it and go straight to Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist? It's the finest of them all, you barely feel it when using. It just does the job and well at that. Refreshing, soothing and ultra hydrating, it is the one I take with me everywhere. It's something I can't imagine to live without anymore. Pricey? Yes, but worth every penny!
