WHAT’S IN MY BAG: SUMMER EDITION

What's in my summer makeup bag

The makeup bag we carry to work/school/travel with is sacred. It’s the place where only true favourites land. It should be packed so it doesn’t take too much space in our bags yet carry everything we need to survive a day. If you fancy knowing how I justify what’s in my bag lately, please read on.

We’ve had a beautiful summer so far here in the UK. We sweat and moan about the heat instead of usual ‘it’s too cold’ & ‘it’s raining again’. I find myself opting for lighter formulas, easy makeup that I know will survive the weather. No longer do I top up makeup during the day, I don’t want to add to the sweaty mess. A cake isn’t optional, hence my makeup bag is makeup-less mostly. If I do go a bit too shiny few spritzes of Too Faced Peach Mist Mattifying Setting Spray takes it away quickly. It combines the power of a cooling mist & powder, so shake this baby like you’ve never shaken before. It smells great, results instant and you get a serious arm workout in one. What’s not to love.

For my lips, I tend to refresh them with a coat of Pixi by Petra LipLift Max in Peony Bloom* to make them appear fuller and moisturised throughout the day. The shade and formula have enough pigment kick to wear on its own which is a huge plus. You can’t overdo it but for me, one coat is enough every 1-2 hours. Having said that, it keeps my lips moisturised for much longer. The gloss goes first but the feeling stays for up to 6 hours. Bingo! And yes, I am aware I talked about my love for glosses again. It shocks me too!

I don’t know about you but I always have a hand cream on me. It’s usually much smaller in size but I’ve fallen for L’Occitane Intense Hand Cream* hard! The 150ml tube may not be ‘travel-friendly’ but the ultra-nourishing formula works so well on my hands! Formulated with 25% of shea butter, the one ingredient I hate for facial skincare yet love everywhere else. True love/hate relationship here. A little goes a long way and it keeps my hands super soft. L’Occitane is widely available online and in-store, so if you’re by Marks & Spencer today, stop by & give it a little try, I dare you! I'm definitely tempted to get another one, this time something sweet and citrusy :)

I’ve always loved the multi-tasking genius Lanolips 101 Ointment* so I’m glad to have it back in my life. I don’t taste strawberries but if you didn’t like the original scent, then this one is a little sweeter. I tend to apply it on my lips if they’re in a need, but mainly I use it on my cuticles. I bite my nails/cuticles and lately I haven’t been so I need them to look a bit more taken care off. It’s also perfect to use topically on knees and elbows!

High humidity follows a heatwave and if heat lasts for 4+ weeks, well, you can certainly see it just by looking a frizzy hair mess I became! The easiest way to rid yourself of frizz temporarily is to use the very clever Ouai Anti-Frizz Hair Sheets*. It's made of hemp paper & enriched with coconut oil and shea butter to instantly combat frizz and static. A great all-rounder, especially if you’re on the go a lot. Not the cheapest, £20 pack contains 15 sheets, so I tend to use it only when I really need it! Also perfect for special occasion, especially for weddings when you want to control the look all day & night long!

Lastly, I can’t leave the house without a little fragrance. I swapped perfume for fragrance water to prevent the possibility of sun damage where I spritz with strong alcohol-based formula. Nuxe Delicious Fragrant Water* is lighter so may not last the whole day but if you top it up around 3pm you’re good to go. Fruity and floral, it’s perfect for warm sunny days! With top notes of petitgrain and sweet orange, it’ll be a new fave for a citrus loving gal. It develops with heart notes of Tiare flower and coconut, so intense yet light to finally settle with base notes of sexy musk and sweet vanilla. A 30ml bottle is only £10 too so it won’t break the bank. I got mine as part of the incredible Latest in Beauty Movie Night Box*. Grab yours for only £30 now!
