EASY PM SKINCARE ROUTINE FOR MAXIMUM GLOW

Glowing skin routine

Maintaining an effective skincare routine is a must. We lead such a busy life that often leaves us breathless at the end of the day. Finding products that work and won’t take away from your time at home, with family or maintaining an illusion of social life is super important. Lately, life’s been a little too busy and with anxiety hitting hard, I found myself simplifying my routine to ensure I still care for my skin even when I feel like everything slipping away. Welcome to busy girl/mom/workaholic/human evening routine that will leave your skin glowing the next day.

Why it’s important to glow

You hear that word everywhere. In fact, it's my favourite word of all time. So what does it mean if you’re reading about glowing skin? Glowing skin equals healthy skin. Simples. I’m not talking about unbalanced sebum production but a healthy youthful glow from within. The type of glow you see in magazines is obtainable when your skincare routine rocks! Find products your skin loves, add a little acid here and then, lots of hydrating Hyaluronic Acid and some oils to seal the deal and you are golden. Waking up to the fresh brightened skin is the best feeling in the world and you don’t have to spend an hour each evening to get there.

What is double cleansing and why it’s important

If I could teach anyone about anything skincare wise, I’d love it to be double cleansing. If there are facial wipes in your stash right now, please do me a favour and put them in the trash. It’s important to first remove all makeup residue before actually cleansing the skin. Try it, I dare you not to notice a difference almost instantly. I prefer oils as my first cleanse as they no only break down all the makeup but also help to remove the SPF residue, daily pollutants and residual build-up.

Dermalogica Precleanse* is one of my faves, as it’s gentle yet effective at removing even the most waterproof formulas. You won’t find gluten, artificial fragrance and/or dyes and parabens. It’s also certified vegan & cruelty-free!  A combination of apricot kernel, sunflower seed, orange, grapefruit, borage, lavender and rosemary to name just a few will remove all oils/product build up without clogging pores. It’s pricey at £38.50 but you can definitely look around for other oils if it’s out of your price range. I like it as it doesn’t enrage my skin when at its most sensitive. Get yours at Dermalogica or Feel Unique.

A second cleanse if really the only cleansing step. At this point, your skin should be free of all gunk and second cleanse ensures you remove all residue still left leaving you with deeply cleansed skin that’s ready for all your active skincare steps. I adore Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm* and not just for the best scent ever thanks to high levels of citrus and moringa oils! Get yours now at Marks & Spencer.

Little AHA never killed anyone

A little Alpha Hydroxy Acid is the first step to take when you’re longing for glow. My everyday favourite comes in a cult orange bottle and contains 5% glycolic acid alongside soothing and moisturising ingredients. At £18 a pop (250ml) it lasts for a bit too, a bargain that keeps on giving. I've given a bottle of Pixi Glow Tonic* to practically everyone in a close friends’ circle and I’m yet to hear any complaints. Take a 30-day Pixi challenge and use it daily to reveal the new brighter, clearer and healthy looking skin. Get yours now at Pixi UK, Marks & Spencer or Cult Beauty

One spritz here, one spritz there

I’ve known Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist* for a while. I’ve had a few deluxe samples ages ago in various beauty boxes, so I know the formula well. All the key ingredients seem to work together well and towards one goal - leaving you with balanced skin. Marshmallow root extract contains high levels of mucilage which is ultra hydrating while rose balances the natural oil production and aloe vera soothes. Few spritzes leave you drenched, so try and spray from afar! Please be aware of alcohol which can be little drying with prolonged use. I tend to use it in the evening before serum to calm my skin after acid. Get yours at Jurlique now.

Hardworking baes

I can’t skip on serum and usually multi-serum unless Caudalie VineActiv Glow Activating Anti-Wrinkle Serum* is on a plate. If you’re a city girl living in that crazy world, the combo of anti-pollutant vitamin C - also supercharges your SPF just BTW - and ultra-hydrating hyaluronic acid is the one for you. I don’t know about your skin but if mine’s being a dull b*tch, I’m reaching for this one! Get yours now at Cult Beauty or Space NK.

When I think of REN Evercalm Overnight Recovery Balm*, I imagine angel touches, choir singing and all the crazy stuff like that. If you’re sensitive and dry AF - meet your new BFF. Newly launched formula allows for sensitivity to be ‘put to bed’ as REN website suggests. It’s a melting balm and I use a tiny bit, warm up between fingers and massage it in at night. Be gone redness, tight dry skin and dullness. It’s rich in skin-loving olive, almond, borage, linseed and jojoba complex oils as well as calming beta-glutens. Simple ingredient menu is a recipe for success for us sensitive skin divas! I simply can’t describe how freaking glorious my skin feels and looks the next morning. If you can only go for one beauty product this month try REN Evercalm Overnight Recovery Balm. You can thank me later :) Get yours now at REN or Marks & Spencer.

Simple evening skincare routine for dry & sensitive skin

6 products (includes double cleansing here guys!) is a far cry from my usual 10+ step skincare routine and I'm kinda glad! I’m enjoying the extra few minutes in bed at night watching Sherlock, chatting with you on Instagram Stories or posting BS on Twitter! Most importantly - it works! And the glow next day makes all this worthwhile. What skincare have you been lurvin’ lately?
