Our under eye area deserves all the love we can give it. The skin there is usually a lot thinner which can lead to premature ageing. Tons of concealer + a bit of baking doesn’t help but who hasn’t got the need for full coverage, am I right? Thankfully Waleda Skin Food won’t break the bank and the buttery rich formula will get them lines plumped in no time. Fancy knowing more?
I often find myself playing a little Robinson Crusoe game: what if I ever find myself on a deserted island? Other than being accompanied by a hunky boy, I’d like to be able to have the essentials with me. If only I could have unlimited SPF50, red lipstick & Waleda Skin Food - I think I’d be sorted! This green tube is pure multi-tasking magic, a universal saviour for all your dry bits! I use it as an overnight treatment when I’m feeling super dry, knees, elbows, feet and cuticle treatment and most recently thanks to the very beautiful soul that is Laurzrah, an under eye cream to end all under eye treatments!
Waleda Skin Food contains the ever so gentle extracts of viola tricolor (relief for ultra dry skin, also soothing), rosemary (anti-microbial, antioxidant), calendula (anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, healing eczema relief) and chamomile (soothing) encapsulated within a rich thick base of oils (sunflower seed), and beeswax. It’s also enriched with arginine which promises to almost freeze the mimic lines similarly to Botox and lanolin. The latter is an emollient and acts as a lubricant on the skin and gives it a smooth plump appearance. You probably recognise it as the main ingredient in most nipple creams. It is most definitely not a perfect formula as you’ll find alcohol and perfume, however, I haven’t noted these to give me any unfortunate side effects to date.
I don’t know if it is the add of-of arginine or simply the rich buttery formula but Waleda Skin Food is simply the best evening under eye treatment I’ve tried in a while. My under eyes have been quite dry thanks to my predispositions as well as my love of over-concealing and baking. I always care for that area quite well, trying to use light but effective formulas in the morning with my current faves being either a combo of The Ordinary Matrixyl 10% + HA and Caffeine Solution 5% (one drop each patted in gently on the eye contour) or superb Filorga Time-Filler Eyes** - read more about it here. In the evening though, I wanted to find the almost mask-like formula which works hard overnight to really nourish and plump out the lines so I’m pleased to confirm I’ve found THE ONE and it won’t break the bank either.
A couple of weeks of use solely has shown me an improvement in the firmness of my under eyes as well as plumped out dehydration and mimic lines. They are still there but my concealer sits so much nicer now the next day if I use it at night. Rich formulas can often cause puffiness yet Waleda Skin Food hasn’t as of yet. I find that despite the rich buttery formula it sinks in pretty well, not well enough to use quickly in the morning though. All in all, I can’t recommend it enough and once more, thank you to my beaut Laurah, who talked about it recently here. I look forward to using it more and to see if more substantial long-term effects are visible in a few months!
In terms of other uses, I adore it for my feet. It keeps it looking its best with results noticeable after a week or so. Same with cuticles, if I’m having a pretty bad period when I bite my cuticles, I found this works so well to help the healing process. I’ve been using Waleda Skin Food for a while now, although only recently for under eyes and Mom and I love it for elbow/knee area! On my ultra dry days, I also find myself reaching for it as an overnight mask. I wouldn’t use it every day, as my other formulas are simply more advanced, but it works so well as a mask too! Just leave it on for 20-40 minutes depending on how dry and tight your skin feels.
