3 one-step cleansers you ought to know |
With all the hype on double cleansing, we often forget to talk about one-step cleansers! Mornings are made for single cleansers and I'm coming to you with 3 new cleansers which you ought to get to know. Creamy milk through melting gel to clay - I've got a formula to match every skin type. If you fancy knowing a little bit more, grab a cuppa & let me tell you all about it.
One-step cleansers are usually great for sensitive skin. Finding a right formulation is important of course but the least friction to the skin the better if you suffer from the over-sensitive skin. Enter one-step cleansing. I am a true believer in cleansing once only in the morning. Double cleansing at night is a must if you wear SPF and makeup as you should always remove it at night prior to properly cleansing your skin. Morning cleansing is different and some even recommend skipping it to 'preserve natural oils'. Personally, I call bullshit. At night we tend to sweat a little and often wear overnight mask-like formulas. It's important to remove the residue of all that in the morning to keep your pores and babyfaces clean. I go by one rule when it comes to cleansing if I tend to shower in the morning, why would I skip the face if I'm not skipping shower?
If your skin is dry and sensitive then the light cream/milk formulas should work well. The gentler the formula the better and the Jurlique Replenishing Cleansing Lotion* (RPR £20 for 200ml) may just be your cup of tea. It smells so lovely of traditional cream and roses and won’t strip your skin of moisture. Perfect for those lazy mornings when you have few extra minutes to massage your skin while cleansing or for the second cleanse. The formula is enriched with Macadamia, Avocado and Jojoba oils alongside floral and fruit extracts such as Birch, Calendula, Spilanthes, Rosemary, Yarrow, Lemon Balm and Liquorice. Shea Butter is also present and that may not be a viable option for some allergic to it, so it’s always worth checking the ingredients list! I find the formula very light and nourishing. I wouldn’t let it sit on my skin as too much Shea in my routine can block up my pores, but it’s a lovely option for those days when I want something other than the balm. Grab yours here.
Clay, lotion or gel to oil? Cleansers for all skin types |
3 new cleansers for all skin types |
For super dry, dull and mature skin the new Samaya Pitta Hydrating Cleanser* (RPR £59 for 100ml) ticks all the boxes. Combining the natural ingredients to boost skin’s radiance and mood-lifting aromatherapy, it’s truly lovely to use in the morning when you’re feeling a little blue and dull (your skin that is!). Jasmine, Saffron and Shatavari extracts are responsible for its delicate scent and mood enhancing properties while working hard to increase skin elasticity and enhance natural radiance. Combination of Neem Oil (promotes skin healing, helps reduce ‘itching’ and roughness), Lotus Seed extract (contains Zinc and anti-ageing enzymes, also anti-inflammatory), Gotu Kola Oil (helps repair skin’s damage and stimulates new collagen production) and Saccharide Isomerate, Almond Oil (effective moisturising agents) deeply moisturise, hydrate and repair skin at a cellular level. I have been using it daily for its mood lifting properties as I find the scent very soothing which helps me relax and start day stress-free. The lovely gel formula melts to the most luxurious oil which cleanses well but also keeps skin healthy & happy. Get yours here.
Problematic but sensitive skin will benefit from REN Clearcalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser (RPR £19-£21 for 150ml) Kaolin clay-based formula. Massage this rich clay cleanser/mask onto dry skin for 1-2 minutes each morning to purify and help combat and prevent imperfections. I've been using it lately to help my skin rid itself from congestion and a few nasty hormonal breakouts. It soothes the enraged post-breakout skin as well as balances excess sebum and removes acne-causing bacteria thanks to the formula rich in Zinc, Willow Bark extracts and Sesame, Sage and Lavender oils. My sensitive skin feels calmer, softer and generally happy when using this clay cleanser but you can also supercharge its power by using as a mask. Just leave it on for 5-10 mins after the initial cleansing massage before removing with warm water and a flannel. The full pump dispenses a lot of product, so perfect if you're using it as a cleanser/mask hybrid but for day to day 'cleansing duties only', you'll only need a half a pump. No point in wasting product and your money ladies and gents! Grab yours on REN online (cheapest!), at your local M&S or at Space NK.
