How to cheat a post-holiday glow |
I aim to please and please you I shall be by sharing my not so secret ways to the ultimate post-holiday glow (holiday not included soz). I’ve not been away far too long but that doesn’t stop me looking like I’ve just come back from a relaxing beach break. How? Great skincare + a little fake tan. Intrigued?
Step 1: actives
The secret to glow always starts with some actives such as Alpha Hydroxy Acids and Vitamin C. Dermalogica Biolumin-C Serum* combines the powers of a powerful Lactic Acid to brighten, help cell turnover and reduce pigmentation, a stable Vitamin C complex (Ascorbyl Methylsilanol Pectinate & Aminopropyl Ascorbyl Phosphate) for radiance and a protection from free radicals, a calming Sophora Japonica Flower Extract to soothe and combat oxidative stress and a hydrating Chia Seed Oil to lock in water and prevent environmental damage. Perfect one step to glow on those mornings when all you want is a few more hours in bed and not multiple steps in your routine. Biolumin-C Serum replaces your usual acid toner & serum in this beautifully combined hybrid. Just remember to use SPF afterwards as AHA’s (Lactic Acid) makes it more prone sun sensitivity.
Available from Dermalogica | £81.50 for 30ml
Step 2: PH-balancing mist
When using acids, it’s important to remember to balance your skin’s PH afterwards and before any other skincare. I’m obsessed with Rå Oils Rose Mist* lately and I have a good reason to be. This gentle toner with a mist so fine makes for a perfect step in the morning routine. Enriched with only the finest ingredients like organic Rosa Damascena water with the added benefit of Polylysine which allows the hydrating Rose Flower Water to adhere and penetrate the skin. So simple, yet ultra hydrating there’s nothing quite as luxurious as this mist. Thanks to the super simple formula it works beautifully at balancing the skin’s natural PH and to deeply hydrate in between skincare steps. Use it as part of AM/PM routine or to refresh your makeup during the day. Simples!
Available from Rå Oils and Cult Beauty | £35 for 100ml
Step 3: a faux tan mist
I’m a huge fan of a glow but fake tan? Not so much, if I’m being honest. I’ve not used any for more than 10 years only to recently rediscover that I like to have a bit of colour to my skin from time to time. Good face tanners are hard to come by, mostly because of their body-friendly formulas that can, in fact, clog my pores. My face needs something light and inoffensive. Enter Utan x Jamie Genevieve CBD Tanning Water. The very first on the market tanning mist to be infused CBD (aka Cannabis Oil). Whilst this is a trend that’s quite new, Cannabis Oil has been proven to work well as a diet supplement or in skincare. Utan tan is so light and you only need a few spritzes to add a little healthy glow to your complexion. Use by spraying directly onto the face and décolletage and let dry for at least a couple of minutes. I love it in between skincare steps as it really needs very little time to sink in. It develops fully within 4 hours. Perfect for those of us who love their exfoliating products that can strip your tan quickly. Inexpensive too and found locally at Superdrug!
Available from Utan | £18 for 100ml and Superdrug | £17.99 (currently on offer as of 15.04.19 for £14.99)
Step 4: glow in the jar
I’ve been banging on this Huxley Secret of Sahara Cream: Glow Awakening* forever and with reason! It’s probably the best moisturiser I’ve ever used. Nothing gives quite the glow like this jar filled with radiant magic! Packed with antioxidants like anti-ageing Prickly Pear Seed Oil, brightening Niacinamide and Bisabolol, detoxing Glutathione, pollution-fighting Odeetox and regenerating SC-Glucan, it delivers incredible results instantly and over time. I’m already more than a halfway through the jar, I love it so much. It’s the one to watch so if glowing skin is what you’re after I truly can’t recommend anything quite as good!
Available from Tonic15 | £33 for 50ml
