| 13 reasons why you NEED Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera and 1 why you don't! |
A new palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills is sure to break the internet but is there anything other than hype to make you spend your hard earned money? I decided to start my ‘BDQ palette week’ with ABH Riviera with all its colours and promises of summer fun. Here are 13 reasons why you should take the plunge & 1 why you could sit this one out.
Here’s a quick whoop for a change to packaging from velvet to fabric and this time we are treated to sailor style white on navy stripes. Personally, I really enjoy it, as well as I enjoy the brush (yes, I’ve said it) and a small mirror, making it truly a compact travel palette. I never really appreciated ABH brushes until I changed the method of applying shadows from buffing to packing. Now I appreciate the smaller brush to pack the shadows on.

This takes us nicely to 13 reasons why you should take a plunge on Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera palette and its 14 (minus 1) gorgeous summery shades. All shadows are soft and buttery and mostly outperform any other formulas. All that is except from Cannes - the beautiful purple that could, but sadly doesn’t quite perform on the lid. When packed it shows up nicely until you try and blend it. It then disappears and goes patchy. I tried all methods of application to no avail. Thankfully the rest of the shades are incredible with a winning formula of a matte white - Sails, aka the best white I’ve ever used! I’m mostly attracted to 3 foils: vibrant aqua blue Seychelles, silver with blue shift Seaside & silvery blue with navy shift Mediterranean & all mattes, from transition shades like pastel light peach Estate, mustard yellow Cabana & medium peach Coastline through gorgeous pinks: neon hot pink Bahamas (the only shade to stain the lid in the palette) & peachy pink Monte Carlo to deep chocolate brown Palm. Other foils also outperform and like others continue to be best applied by fingers but can be used with a brush (small side of ABH brush is great for it), here we have light bronze with almost pink purple shift Yacht, cranberry with a pink shift Palermo & true gold Inheritance.
I’ve been playing with the palette since it came out & created quite a few looks on my Instagram and few shades find themselves to be used more than others. Sails, Bahamas, Monte Carlo, Seychelles, Seaside and Mediterranean are ones I reach for the most. If there’s been a summer hit launch of 2019 so far, it’s definitely a dreamy Riviera.

As you can see there are 13 incredible reasons why you should invest in Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera palette and these are all the incredible shades but if you were after a matte purple, then you should probably look elsewhere.
