From 'dull to glow' moisturiser

I don’t expect a lot from my skincare, said no one ever. And if you don’t, then you’re doing it wrong. I expect a lot from the products I choose to put on my face. A healthy glow is what I aim for and what I demand from the best out there. Recently I fell for a new moisturiser that ticks all my boxes. Does that sound like something you’d need in your life right now? Then please keep on reading.

Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Exfoliating Moisturiser** entered my routine recently and made me believe in moisturisers again. I struggled a bit since I’ve used up my first ever #glowinthejar Huxley Secrets of Sahara: Glow Activating Cream* - read more bout it here. My skin can be quite tricky to cater for, I have very dry cheeks at the moment and normal to oily t-zone depending on levels of dehydration I’m experiencing. So to find the moisturiser that tackles both well whilst also inducing the glow from within can be tricky. Never mind, as I have now found my new holy grail.

I was first introduced to the Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Exfoliating Moisturiser** by the awesome team in Selfridges (looking at you Rohit) and Carrie Gross herself. Having spend a morning listening to her incredible brand story was amazing, and looking at how amazing Carrie’s skin was - even better. I tried the moisturiser and was hooked instantly: I love the gel to cream/oil texture, it’s so smooth, and I love how it makes my skin glow instantly. There’s not much else to it: I just bloody love how it makes my face look!

It’s not one for those of faint hearts as Alpha Beta Exfoliating Moisturiser combines the powers of 7 acids: Lactic and Glycolic featuring at the top of the ingredient list, followed closely by Malic, Mandelic, Salicylic, Citric and Tartaric. This potent formula also features Willow Bark Extract making it even better for congested skin, especially combination! Don’t worry, it’s not just exfoliation, as the moisturiser also features emollients such as Glycerin, Squalane, Ceramides and Chinese Foxglove responsible for its ultra-hydrating power. The formula is said to not only help prevent the water loss but also maintain the water balance too. The Alpha Beta acidic cocktail works tirelessly to help eliminate dullness, help with the overall appearance of your skin including pores (that lovely BHA compound) and fine lines and wrinkles.

Do you need an exfoliating moisturiser in your life RN?

The unique texture of Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Exfoliating Moisturiser will leave you breathless

At first, I wasn’t sure about using it in the morning but as long as you have a great SPF routine, I see no reason not to capitalise on the instant brightening, smoothing and radiance it offers. In fact, I tend to use it in the morning now as a great prep for my makeup. Honestly, the glow is unreal, all while keeping my skin hydrated and happy. That being said if you are sensitive, then perhaps stop by their counter in Selfridges and get a sample so you can patch test first, as the formula is in fact quite potent for a moisturiser. Also if you refuse to wear SPF everyday or opt for low SPF or only rely on sun blockers in your makeup, then I would strongly advise against using it in the morning as acids will increase your skin sensitivity to the sun.

Ok, let’s talk about the texture a bit more. I personally love moisturisers that have that light yet melt onto the skin texture which is why, I was blown away by how good it feels to apply the Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Exfoliating Moisturiser**. It’s the texture I haven’t encountered before, as it’s more liquid than most. I apply it using a plastic spatula to my face then gently massage it in for the ultimate instant glow. Often moisturisers simply act as a sealer after all the ingredients in your serum have penetrated, but not this one. Full of actives, this is a perfect moisturiser to top up your hyaluronic acid based serum with in the morning, as it’ll draw all the goodness of active ingredients in the formula and allow it to penetrate better. I tend to stay away from other active ingredients before this moisturiser, as it’s potent enough on its own.

Why you need the Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Exfoliating Moisturiser in your routine

Lastly, there aren’t that many products that I try and fall in love with, yes there’s plenty that I like and that work for me, but only a handful gets the 5 out of 5* rating here on Beauty Drama Queen. Only then, you’ll hear me bragging about it all the time and recommend it to all friends and family. Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Exfoliating Moistuirser is that product. Pricey as hell, but if it’s within your budget or you grab it on a nice promo, you won’t be disappointed. It's the one for my AHA/BHA loving Queens!

You can grab your Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Exfoliating Moisturiser** in Selfridges online and in-store.
